Joining the United States Military

Choosing to join the military today can be a decision that provides valuable benefits for a lifetime. With jobs hard to come by and education costs soaring, many men and women are enlisting in different branches of the military for the financial and educational benefits that are offered. Today's financial benefits for military personal come close to $100,000 per year when all benefits are added up. This can make life much easier for individuals while providing a better future for them as well.

Financial Benefits: Enlistees today are being offered higher enlistment bonuses than ever, depending on the military branch they choose. With housing allowances and meal allowances, health, dental and life insurance provided along with base pay, soldiers and their families are well taken care of. Military personal who chose to live on base are provided with free meals and housing. Those who choose to live off base are given allowance money to help cover the costs of housing and food.

Educational Benefits: Military personal are all well trained in a specialty career, whether it is learning new skills that the enlistee will perform well at or obtaining a college degree, either choice the individual is prepared and trained to perform skilled duties while serving in the military as well as taking those skills with them into civilian life.

Insurance and Vacation Benefits: Military personal receive full dental and health insurance at little to no cost. They also receive life insurance and benefits are also given to family members. Enlistees are given weekends off, 30 days of vacation per year and holidays off or paid. Sick days are provided as needed.

Travel and Adventure Benefits: Joining the military can be one way to get to travel the world without the expense. Meeting others and learning about their customs and cultures can be a very enriching experience. Moving to different military bases located around the country or world also offers individuals an opportunity to see new places and meet new people.

Veteran Benefits: Not only does the military offer many valuable benefits while serving but some benefits are also offered for individuals when they are discharged or retire. Purchasing a home is easier for veterans as they are given the opportunity to take advantage of a VA loan. These loans offer low interest and most qualify for no down payment. Veterans also are given the opportunity to obtain an education with funds available to help cover costs. The military also offers a savings and retirement program that ensures a monthly check upon retirement.
